Debbie Etters

Lead Teacher - 2 Year Old Half Day Class

Debbie

In 1993, I moved to Bolivar with my husband and my two sons after 20 years as an LVN II nurse. I was privileged to be able to stay at home for 10 years and raise my wonderful boys. After my boys left home and at the age of 49, I decided to go back to school, obtaining my Early Childhood degree. After I graduated, I worked at Bolivar Head Start as a teacher assistant. In 2012, I moved to Clinton and started working at Harrisonville Head Start as the Lead Teacher and in 2019 I was blessed to find a home at Seeds of Faith, teaching the 2-year-old class as the Lead Teacher, which I love.

My philosophy for 2-year-old is teaching through love and learning. It might look like play to some, but in the course of playing, the building blocks of knowledge and learning are being established. For example, when playing with blocks, the children are learning about shapes, balance, and teamwork. In art they are practicing drawing, which sets up the foundation for writing and reading. In music they are able to express their thoughts and feelings and while, “playing” in the house corner, they are learning social and life skills.

I truly love what I do and am grateful for the opportunity to teach the children through love and learning. I have my Early Childhood degree and I have been teaching since 2006. Prior to that I was a license nurse in California before moving to Missouri in 1994. I truly love what I do and may never retire.
